Police in Erie County give out the most speeding tickets of any NY county most years and sixth most traffic tickets overall in 2018. Drivers in Buffalo received the largest share of total traffic tickets last year with 42,706, or 23% of all tickets in the county. Buffalo was also the source of the most cell phone tickets last year, as 395 were written in the city (14%). Police also wrote nearly 4,000 speeding tickets, almost 1,400 seat belt tickets, 182 texting tickets, and more than 580 citations for impaired driving.
