Well the official start of the summer is quickly approaching and that means there are going to plenty of cars on the road. This also means that there will be many police agencies stepping up their patrol detail to make sure drivers are obeying the laws on the road.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has put into effect their annual “Click It Or Ticket” campaign to aggressively target drivers operating their vehicles without a safety belt. You can be sure that many of these police agencies target specific areas and times of the day to look for such violations. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  Some states like New Jersey are going to be very aggressive in issuing seatbelt tickets, even to passengers in the backseat of the vehicle.

Businessweek did a separate study in which they found that traffic tickets during the end of May and the beginning of June almost double compared to the regular traffic ticket cycle.  Rest assured that the increase in traffic tickets are a sure revenue builder for many cities and states that have budget issues.

The argument is there that police officers are doing their job when it comes to making the roads safer during a peak traveling season and of course the flip side of the coin is angry motorists seeing police officer efforts as nothing more than a money making scheme.  In some states police officers are known to set up road blocks and other speed traps to ticket motorists.

One issue that many drivers and police officers are quickly realizing to be a significant problem is texting while behind the wheel.  Some research has even gone to say that texting while driving is more dangerous than drunk driving.  Recently the nation’s four major wireless providers have joined up to launch a multi-million dollar campaign to warn young drivers about the dangers of driving while texting.
