Nassau County has launched an amnesty program to encourage payment of outstanding parking and traffic tickets. Now through March 22, drivers can pay their overdue fines at a greatly reduced rate. In addition, associated fees are being waived and the violations will not be reported to the credit bureau for any ticket paid during this month.
This initiative was instituted to help recoup some of the $119 million owed to Nassau County for approximately 572,000 unpaid tickets, some of which date back as far as 1982. “You can save yourself a lot of money,” said John Marks of the Nassau County Traffic and Parking Violations Agency. “We’ll work with you.”
